The yurt is a snug 200 square feet with a fold-out futon that sleeps two. There's a water pump just outside, but no indoor sink or shower - there's an outhouse instead, so think of this as comfortable dry camping.
It's the perfect basecamp if you want a quiet place to rest while you explore everything Vashon Island has to offer.

What amenities are included at the yurt?
The yurt is a 200 sq ft dry-camping experience with a water view, Wifi, a dedicated workspace, and a 49-inch TV with Apple TV. It sleeps 2 on a fold-out futon with room-darkening shades and extra bedding. There's a water pump just outside and an outhouse, but no sink or shower — and we provide disposable cutlery if you bring pre-cooked food.

How far is the property from the nearest beach?
The yurt is less than 2 miles from KVI Beach, one of the best walking beaches on Vashon Island, and there is a hiking trail from the property down to the water. Downtown Vashon is also under 2 miles away.

Is parking available at the the yurt?
Parking is off-property on the public road across from the mailboxes. It's a short walk in, but you're welcome to drop your things off at the yurt with your vehicle first.

What is the check-in and check-out time?
Check-in is any time after 3:00 PM with self check-in via keypad, and checkout is by 11:00 AM.

Are the properties family-friendly?
The yurt sleeps a maximum of 2 guests on a fold-out futon, so it's best suited for solo travelers or couples. Note that it's a dry-camping setup (no running water), and pets aren't allowed since a dog lives on the lower property. No fires or outdoor food, please — we've got raccoons!

Is there a bathroom in the Yurt?
The yurt is a dry-camping experience, so there's no indoor plumbing. A clean, private outhouse is located just steps away, and a hand water pump is right outside the yurt for washing up. If you're comfortable camping, you'll feel right at home. There are a few shower options on Vashon Island...just ask the host.

Can I cook at the yurt?
There's no kitchen, and fires and outdoor food aren't permitted (the local raccoons are enthusiastic). We recommend bringing pre-cooked food — disposable cutlery is provided — or taking the short trip into Uptown Vashon, just 1.5 miles away, where you'll find restaurants, cafes, and a grocery store.

What should I bring for a dry-camping stay?
Pack like you're glamping: a water bottle, toiletries, wet wipes or hand sanitizer, a flashlight or headlamp for nighttime outhouse trips, and any snacks or pre-cooked meals. Bedding, extra blankets, WiFi, and entertainment (49" TV with Apple TV) are already covered.

Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, no. A friendly dog lives on the lower property, so guest pets can't be accommodated.

How do I get to Vashon Island?
Vashon is a short ferry ride from the Seattle area — via the Fauntleroy ferry from West Seattle, the Point Defiance ferry from Tacoma, or the passenger-only water taxi from downtown Seattle. The yurt is an easy drive from each ferry dock. If you plan to take the bus, you will need to walk about 1.5 miles from uptown Vashon, where the bus stop is.
